Submission Guidelines


All those wishing to present a paper at the conference must submit electronically, using the web-based submission form, an abstract of maximum 350 words and a 120 words profile of each author (including affiliation and, if wished, 2 main publications) in English.

Files should include the following information in this order:
a) author(s)
b) affiliation
c) email address
d) title of abstract
e) body of abstract (including a short profile of each author which has to be inserted together with the body of the abstract in the abstract box)

Please use plain text and abstain from using footnotes and any special formatting, characters or emphasis (such as bold, italics or underline).

We are using EasyChair for the submission process. You'll be asked to create a user account. Once this step done, you'll be able to submit and modify your abstract until the deadline for abstract submission, which is due to the 20th October 2014.

All submissions are minimally double blind peer reviewed. The submitters of abstracts will be notified if the abstract has been accepted or not.


If an abstract is accepted for the conference, a full draft paper should be submitted.

Submitting a paper is not mandatory but those interested in having their paper considered for publications in the Conference Proceedings must respect this deadline.

In preparing your paper, please pay strict attention to the following guidelines:

a) Title: font Times New Roman, size 14, lower-case, bold and single spacing.

b) Abstract: No more than 350 words, font Times New Roman, size 12 and single spacing.

c) Text: No more than 3.500 words (including footnotes and bibliography), font Times New Roman, size 12 and single spacing. The different sections of the article must be enumerated and bold, using italics for subsections. The body of the text should not contain bold or underlined text.

d) Bibliography: must feature at the end of the paper in alphabetic order and use APA style. Examples are below:

  • Books: Author's surname (uppercase), name's initial. Year in parentheses followed by the title in italics. City. Publishing company.
    ROJEK,C. (2010) The labour of leisure. London: SAGE.
  • If the book belongs to a collection:

  • Magazines: Author's surname (uppercase), name's initial.Year in parentheses followed by the article's title, followed by the name of the magazine in italics, number or volume and number, article's pages.
    ALLEN, L.R. (1996) A primer: benefits-based management of recreation services. Parks & Recreation, 31 (3), 64-76.
  • Books' chapters: Author's surname. First name initial. Year in parentheses. Title of the article or chapter. "In" before the surname of the publisher or coordinator of the encyclopedia or book followed by the title of the work in italics. City, publishing company, pages of the work.
    BARNETT, L.A. (1991). Development benefits of play for children. En Driver, B.L.; Brown, P.J. and Peterson, G.L. (eds.). Benefits of leisure (pp. 215-247). Pennsylvania: Venture.

e) In the text of the article, the references to other works must be done indicating in parentheses author's surname and year of publishing, separated by a comma (Cuenca, 2000). If several authors are included in the same reference , they must be quoted one after the other separated by a semicolon (Cuenca, 2000; Sallent, 2008). If several works of the same author, published in the same year, are included, it will be enough to distinguish them with letters (Cuenca 2000a, 2000b).

f) The quotation must be in inverted commas, showing author's name and corresponding pages next (Cuenca, 2000:18). If the quotation takes up more than 5 lines, it must be indented and with size 10.

g) The footnotes in the text must be numbered successively and they will be placed in the footer with font Times New Roman, size 9 and single spacing.

h) The tables, graphics and charts must be accompanied by the title and legend and they must be numbered.
